Abstract | We studied the effects of controlled hypotension (30% decrease in systolic arterial pressure) on the blood flow of the abdominal vital organs with prostaglandin E1 (PGE1), nitroglycerin (GTN) and trimetaphan (TMP) in six mongrel dogs under N2O and pancuronium anesthesia. We instrumented the dogs’with each appropriate electromagnetic probes on superior mesenteric artery (SMA), portal vein (PV), hepatic artery (HA) ang right renal artery (RA). GTN did not decrease SMA, PV, HA and total hepatic blood flow compared with the control, and had a tendency to be more than or a significant difference from PGE1 and TMP. PGE1 decreased RA blood flow significantly compared with the control. These results suggest that GTN is more beneficial to preserve the blood flow of the abdominal vital organs than PGE1 and TMP. |
